The Project

The intangible cultural heritage can only be heritage when it is recognized as such by the communities, groups or individuals that create maintain and transmit it. For this reason, the project “Digital Intangible Cultural Heritage” is focus on collection, preservation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage of both regions. In order to achieve wider promotion of intangible cultural heritage will be use the digital technologies as a new modern tool for intangible cultural heritage preservation and promotion. The project will have strong cross-border impact because it will:

  • preserve and promote the intangible cultural heritage of both region, which have great and undeveloped potential;
  • Raise awareness on the assets of intangible cultural heritage in the cross-border region;
  • Developed modern digital tools for promotion of intangible cultural heritage outside of the target borders
  • Set up sustainable policies for its continuous digital preservation and conservation.

Project was implemented on the territory of Vidin and Zajecar region.

Needs, weakness and constraints: The Vidin and Zajcar are not known as regions with rich intangible cultural heritage. The both regions have not unified data base for intangible cultural heritage. In the both regions, people who are interested of intangible cultural heritage do not yet have where to find detailed information about this. The main problem is the low popularity of the intangible cultural heritage among local people.

Strengths and innovation: The project offer an innovative solution (protection, preservation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage through digitalization).  Thus, will be provide a wider free access to information for intangible cultural heritage of both regions. The idea of the project is to use one modern ICT tool to preserve and promote the intangible cultural heritage of both regions, to increase the target groups' awareness of the intangible cultural heritage (traditions, religious feast, folk dances and songs, fairy tales, stories and etc); to create an unique cross-border e-platform of intangible cultural heritage and to create a prerequisites for future creation of new tourist products in the region for intangible cultural heritage;

Project objectives

The overall objective of the project is to promote the intangible cultural heritage (ICH) of both regions through the use of modern ICT technologies.
Specific Objectives:

  • to raise awareness of the target groups for the ICH;
  • to create a unified CBC database for the ICH
  • to create prerequisites for the creation of new tourist products for intangible cultural heritage;

  2. Elaborating field studes for intangible cultural heritage in Vidin and Zajecar region
  3. Video presenting 100 best ICH
  4. Setting-up E-platform for intangible cultural heritage in Vidin and Zajecar District
  5. Training "How to made a  touristic product of ICH"
  6. Training for ”ICT as tool for  promotion of intangible cultural heritage”
  7. Festival "Digital intangible cultural heritage in Vidin and Zajecar District”
  8. Intangible cultural heritage happening in Vidin
